Let there be a record of your, ahem, gorgeous voice

From time to time I've been asked to co-write songs with people and sing on their records as a guest vocalist. Today I'm offering you a podcast consisting of five collaborations from the past five years or so, tracks I made with Kreidler, Bran Van 3000, Hypo, O.LAMM and The 6ths. It's weird and wonderful to sing on the records of the artists you admire -- the ultimate karaoke session, in a sense. In between the songs, I've told the stories of how these collaborations came about, and what it was like to work with the people involved. The O.LAMM track is an exclusive, the world's first glimpse into his monumentally funky new album Monolith, due this November on Active Suspension. Click the picture to download the podcast.

It seems to have disappeared. On YouTube there's onlyan amateur video for the Eek A Mouse Shopping track featuring some beach jocks. I'd like see folk like that trying to do my version!

You always seem to loosen up on these collaborations, which i like very much ( you turned me on to Kreidler this way). Keep rapping..maybe Momus needs to do a grime track( pun intended ). Have your heard Lady Sovereign..? http://www.ladysovereign.com

O.LAMM is now officially my favorite person.

I'm sorry.

You're still up there, though!

(What songs are being played during your spoken interludes, btw?)

Want to sing to some "failed design" someday, Momus?

I think you're the only artist I'd be in danger of making more of a success with my vocal presence... I might spoil you!

thanks for having me!

Momus, you're so conventionally dressed! I was hoping for an apron at least. By the way, I discovered a new use for aprons this year at Burning Man. They can be worn as a cape, to protect delicate shoulders from the sun!

thanks for this
As You Turn To Go is so sad and so beautiful.
It's always been my favorite non-Momus Momus song.

6 degrees of seperation

Odd...I live in a little town in northern Ontario and my yoga studio is owned by the Bran Van drummer. No one in my town knows who he is or who Bran Van are but He's a super fantastic dude.

2 degrees I believe? or is it 1? Either way you are closer to me than I though. Do you happen to know Johnny Depp cause I would like to be closer to him in degrees. (and inches)

excised microdose

As scissors are to magazines, Audacity is to podcasts and mp3 radio, to draw out the pieces you need. It's nice to be made aware of your extracurriculars, such as Momus-produced track twelve.

Re: excised microdose

I remember Laila saying self-deprecatingly that instead of singing she "quacks like a duck". It wasn't always the case, but I'm afraid on "The Other Side of You" that's all too true.

funny

I was thinking about a song together for my next-next album, now that my new album is officially out in March 2007.
Some sort of song about art spaces and museums...maybe a duet between you and Drew of Matmos... let's make things happen !

Antonin / Digiki

Re: funny

When I told my therapist about stalking Momus, she said "Matmos"? I get them confused sometimes. But I'm pretty sure Momus beats Matmos. Momus has history on his side. Also, Japan.

Nick, you talk about cutting your vocals on this track. Are you doing a cut'n'paste, or live whilst singin'?

Also there`s your vocal contribution to "Eternity Spans", the new Rusty Santos record that comes out this month.
