And thank the gods for it; just like Lukacs said about Thomas Mann: he was the consummate bourgeoise author (and didn't mean it as a compliment). Auchincloss cared about the rich, Zinn cared about the poor, and Salinger apparently cared about himself -- take your pick.

I cant really disagree with your aim of thought... but, seeing that I didnt know about this guy, it's sort of interesting. Perhaps his class isnt a dying breed, but his culture maybe is.

Although I cant imagine his writing being at all interesting.
