Re: An Army of Fauxmus

Ha! I just googled "Fauxmus" and got here, not so astonished that someone else thought of it.

I was pissed off with discovering Momus back when I was 18 years old, because I discovered him AFTER I discovered microtonal pop, Pizzicato Five and musique concrete; it felt like he tipped my whole world toward him the whole while.

I was in social studies class sneaking a read from the latest copy of Exclaim! Magazine when this (small) strangely attractive picture of a man with one eye and a teapot jumped out at me; it was a review of "Folktronic". Lingering in A&B Sound after school, I sampled "The Little Red Songbook", liked it though I set it back on the shelf. A week later, the bright letters M O M U S leapt out from top spine of a CD in Blackbyrd Myoozik's used bin; there I bought '20 Vodka Jellies' for ten bucks, then went back to A&B Sound to buy "The Little Red Songbook".

It was then I discovered that I had an older brother way across the world, or at least somebody who had thought of everything I would have thought way before I ever did; to this day, I'm terrified that I'll lose an eye in a freak accident and truly become the dreaded Fauxmus I undoubtedly already am!

On one hand, fuck you, you bastard! On another, I love you, Momu-san.

Yours, Ashley Andel in Vancouver.
