Agree with the Britpop rockism but I think Lily Allen and Kate Nash count as being in the same pop bracket as Ellis-Bextor.

Fair enough! Me, I've no such excuse, I should be working more.

But thank you very much. I'm happy to hear you enjoyed it; it's one of my newer ones. Much nicer to hear than "why don't you do more like (X=song I did five years ago)?"

You may think that Momus was outside of the Britpop era, but he was mentioned in the Britpop special edition of the NME!

...except he was only mentioned when Oasis got signed to Creation. :/

It's all pop.

Pink Moon is perhaps to sparse to be deemed pop-ish, but the other two? HIT PARADE GOLD. ULTIMATE WINNER.

There's a whole load more bands though. One that just occurred to me is the Slits. And other punk bands a plenty. Yes.

Thinking about it I'm not so sure the 90's and 00's "Britpop" (EngRock) thing is totally about rockism. There is a tradition of 'the English are almost English' that has parallels with the Young Fogies, 80's yuppie businessmen resurecting old cockney rhymning slang, the films of Mike Leigh etc. Blur apparently got a lot of stylishitc cues from the film Meantime. Of course this relates to authenticity, but it is perhaps not as isolated as "rockism" suggests.
