Beggars can't be choosers, so I am glad you don't flat-out hate Neojaponisme, but that being said, I am not sure calling our "web journal" - that provides all original content and no links - an "aggregator" (or even "a blog") is fair. Is Newsweek an aggregator because it uses multiple authors? Does BoingBoing commission original art and translations?

I think the day-job jabs are unnecessary to your review. You would never seek to describe Paul Baron & Co.'s corporate projects to get the bottom of the heart of TAB. I also don't see how being a market analyst makes you have to wait until you get home to be critical of markets and trends. (I shouldn't overthink what you wrote though, because obviously there was an ad hominem component.)

Thanks?

Marxy

Momus just HATES that Marxy 'does' Japan better than he ever 'did/does/will' -- and what keeps that hatred white hot is that Marxy is a --gasp-- ad man! His addition of Marxy's blog (and the consistent/tired references to Marxy's day job) show that this top 10 post is another 1/4-baked post on a blog that's run it's course.

Put it to bed, bro.

Hello?

"...cracking essays by Mr Marx himself... a promising beginning, then, for a new blog from one of Japan's more articulate and informed observers".

Is that really the sound of WHITE HOT HATE, mate?

Sling yer 'ook!

See, the WHITE HOT HATE is good because when Momus tries to "damn" with faint praise he ends up giving a massive endorsement. When you're always getting a -100, being at 10 is like an A+ for a D student.

Hello!

I'm not referring to the 1/4-baked post you sloth-toed thru today, but reminiscing over the last six months of LUKE WARM PRATTLE pertaining to Marxy and his wicked ways.. Jesus, mate, take a stance and stick with it for at least a season, will ya?

'ook Slinger

Ah, I see, 'Ooky, it's nuance and inconsistency you're on a mission against?

Marxy and I have been on different sides on some issues, and on the same side on others. Read, for instance, my newly-topical piece (from September 2006) on Tokion Japan and its focus on what I call Mukokuseki diasporans. I basically totally agree with Marxy's doubts about whether the people Tokion focused on can serve as models to Japanese readers. We seem both to have been right; Tokion Japan's current issue will be its last.

Do I need to be on a mission to call you on your bullshit?

Get over yourself.
