- Of course I knew about the ping pong references in your music momus (ping pong, sing song, ding dong, king kong) but I always wondered if you actually played. I play Chinese penhold, as opposed to the american/british shakehand style, having been taught by a sweet little nurse in Malaysia who used to play with me in the afternoons when her shift was over. When I was fifteen or so a friend an I used to play in his basement, but we would play these marathon games where the objective wasn't to score on the other person, but to keep the ball from touching the floor up to a certain count, say 500 or 1000. The rule was that if you missed even one, you had to start all over, so you could get to 987, miss one, and have to begin again from scratch. It would take hours and hours sometimes, but we never gave up :)

As I got older, my game developed, especially in college, where there was some real competition. I can certainly smash, but I tend to be more of a defensive player, standing 10 feet behind, looping those balls back all... day... long.

It occurs to me that there is a certain element of ping pong to Click Opera, at least in the comments section, with those lazy anons trying to sneak a serve by you and you're all overhand-top-spin-down-the-line-daddy-never-loved-you on the return.

Sorry, don't mean to go on but I haven't played in ages and I do love me ping pong. Second only to badminton, which is really only ping pong writ large, with the parabolic grace of the shuttlecock replacing the icy white blur of the ball.
